National Poetry Month offers an opportunity to honor renowned poets and their exceptional works. It also invites us to view poetry as a powerful medium for expressing emotions and ideas. To celebrate, we have curated a selection of titles that showcase the diversity of poetry—from established poets to emerging voices, and from abstract compositions to celebrated Australian classics. We encourage you to explore our complete collection in the library or view our curated list here.
One fascinating form of poetry is Blackout Poetry, also referred to as erasure or redacted poetry. This creative technique involves using pre-existing or "found" text to craft something entirely new, where certain sections of the original text are preserved while others are obscured or crossed out.
We invite you to join us on Tuesday April 8th, in the library for a hands-on experience in creating your own poetic masterpiece.
